Overcome the Top 10 Causes of Workplace Stress

Posted by nostress on Monday, August 22, 2011

in the workplace stress is increasing and it's costing corporate America a fortune. Some estimate that 80% of health care costs are stress related, and these expenses go right to the bottom line.

According to CNN-Money.com, Americans spent more than $ 17 billion for antidepressants and anti-anxiety drugs in 2002, up 10% from a year ago, and almost 30% over two years.

Institute for Management Excellence reports that American industry spends more than $ 26 billion each year for medical bills and disability payments with another $ 10 billion for executive lost workdays, hospitalization, and premature death.

In addition to these staggering figures, the stress takes its toll through the additional costs of quality control, legal challenges, lost opportunities, poor performance, bad attitudes, and training.

We can not do much about the skyrocketing costs of health care and prescription drugs, but we can take immediate action to control the top ten causes of stress as indicated by the Global Business and Economic Roundtable on Addiction and Mental Health.

Count:

10 "Workload" - Employees indicate that it is often stressed when they have too little or too much to do. Managers should share responsibility and help employees work priority has to be done. 8 "Pervasive uncertainty" - Stress levels increase rapidly when we are faced with new requirements and procedures. Finding what's going on and keeping staff informed helps control stress and increase productivity. Write out the information in the letter, so you can review the facts. The staff will appreciate a written analysis.

News mergers, consolidations, plant closing and restructuring contribute to a feeling of helplessness. Management must keep people informed about situations that will affect their jobs, or the rumor mill will add to the already stressful situation.

4 "No feedback - good or bad" - People want to know whether they are meeting expectations. Consistent, written and verbal, personalized feedback is required. Some people need more attention than others, but everyone's performance is enhanced if leaders frequently affirm individual efforts.

Stress in the workplace and stress in general has created our most primal parts of the brain. Understanding the primal causes of stress is the first step toward understanding what steps should be taken to release this stress once and for all. Learn more ...

Stress is the basic fight or flight response that is triggered when we see the danger.

Translating ...

-Different types of stress

You've probably heard of the concept of different types of stress before. In general we distinguish between: a positive stress - eustress, and negative stress - distress. Positive stress or eustress is the very essence of having a good time at the workplace because it gives you the drive towards success and led to what sommonly called "flow".

The primary reaction is a reaction to the danger of what is called distres.Ljudske biology does not care more about getting any job, she just wants to fight or flee.

That's when they think about what you bite your co-worker/boss and can not concentrate on work more.

-Stress, awareness

Translating...

Poof, all your problems will disappear. The next customer please. (... As if ...)

Even if it is unconscious.

Perception is a milestone in eustress (productivity) to go through the trouble.

Translating ...

Now it's time for some good self-honesty.

Translating ...

1st Remember the last time you got into some seriously unpleasant workplace stress ...

3rd Now shift the focus from the situation or person (well, I know from whence he amazed ...) for myself. Which of your belief systems play in this problem?

4th What are you afraid of? If you do not know, just a guess. What can you possibly fear? Make a list of options, without evaluation. It is not necessary. When a situation happens the next time you'll be able to spot more and more in the direction of his superiors is the most accurate.

5th Picture in your mind the worst possible outcome of the situation at hand.

6th What would you do with regard to the fact that the worst case scenario actually happened? Can you deal with this in any way?

Combine productivity and relaxation, simply to avoid destructive stress in the workplace - that could prove to be much more difficult task than it sounds. Eustress flow is looking to be happily productive at work.

Sincerely,
