The first image that pops into your mind when you think the word meditation? Room with lighted candles and incense, sitting down cross legged on the floor, palms upward, eyes closed? Well, you're pretty close to what most people think of meditation to be.
Ok so most are not entirely untrue of meditation, but it is not necessarily always the same. Before we conjure up images of how to meditate, let us first understand what meditation actually is and why it is widely practiced around the world.
Meditation is conscious relaxation. It is a process through which the mind reaches a state of bliss, peace, or through deep concentration. If water can be used as an example, then meditation can be explained in this way, if you start pouring water from a jug into a glass, the first few drops would be considered a "concentration" and a steady flow is obtained in order to "meditation." The first few drops unstable and small droplets that are considered distractions in koncentraciji.Dublje state, which is a steady flow in the example, characterizes meditation where the mind is peaceful.
Stress is the number one reason why most people resort to meditation. Busy schedules, daily life in the fast, demanding careers and higher expectations have led to rising stress levels. Some have found solace in prescription drugs that are "calming" effect to get rid of stress. But most of these forms of relaxation provide only temporary relief and result in harmful side effects in the long run. After the drugs wear off, it's back to the pit again. Since the troubles of the mind, the only cure lies in the mind.
So how does one go about practicing meditation? It's easier than most people think it to be. First you must find a quiet place, sit comfortably, relax your emotions and find an object or thought to look. It is important to only think of one object or thought and concentrate on it. It is only natural if you find that your mind keeps wandering in the beginning, but you need to force your mind to dismiss all other thoughts that break the concentration. You can still be aware of your surroundings, but you will find a concentration deepens their environment will cease to exist.
Think of meditation as a kind of spring cleaning for your mind and body, but what you can do every day. People who have been through it will tell you that meditation brings a sense of bliss to say where the mind is free and relaxed. Oh, and if your wondering about the side effects of meditation, let's see how the peace, tranquility and a sense of integrity? Works for me, it's time you tried some of the goodies for yourself!
