Useful Tips For Students To Manage Stress

Many students experience stress. Excessive amounts of stress can lead students to become anxious, exhausted, or cease to function properly in the classroom or at home. This means that they do not learn properly and may have difficulty in social settings. It is very important to be able to recognize signs of stress in students in order to help them develop coping strategies to eliminate or reduce stress. Students who suffer high levels of stress can show some of the following signs:

    aggressive behavior towards teachers and other students increased social withdrawal easily reduced to tears poor participation in school attention seeking behavior reduced the success of is eating disorders only harming behaviors such as cutting and only tattoo

Although many of these behaviors May appear to be indicators of other social and mental health issues for young people, some students may experience stress at home and outside school, and therefore not immediately obvious to teachers and school community members. This may contribute to poor ability to cope. These factors can include stressful personal family problems, such as financial and marital problems of parents, family separation, who live in single parent families, death in the family, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, and changes in family circumstances, such as were re-partnership of parents, relocation or loss of a friend.

There are several precipitating patterns of thinking that can lead students to feel under considerable stress. They May need help in developing coping strategies and self-help. These situations can be;

    a sense of not meeting others' standards and expectations a sense of uncertainty about the future felt too dependent on others uncertainty about sexuality or sexual identity difficulty making or maintaining friendships difficulty in dealing with a range of emotions they experience problems in the acceptance of responsibility

Some practical help can be offered to teachers and parents to help students become aware of how they can avoid or eliminate stress. This can be useful for students:

    be aware of stress levels are coping with any changes that may have recently appeared become aware of their symptoms through the use of a list of possible symptoms to develop a list of possible solutions to specific situations and ways to apply them in practice Remember what is useful before, and what is not helpful engage in good self care, such as getting enough sleep, eating well, taking regular short breaks, with relaxation or meditation for managing emotions to use positive thinking and simple strategies of cognitive behavioral therapy to overcome negative self talk have a way to enjoy some downtime from school

with the support and help from teachers, parents and friends, most students can learn to effectively manage their stress in order to achieve well in school.
