Biomimetics (also known as biomimicry or bionics) is the application of methods and systems found in nature in modern technology and human resources development. While nature provides the best solutions for many of our complicated and unsolved problems, we rarely look for solutions from him. In this article, I identified some valuable facts in the behavior of bird migration that could provide some basic principles to solve our problems for stress management.
Now a days, stress has become an integral part of our day-to-day life, and therefore each of us must face at one time or another oblicima.Stres has created a variety of factors known as stressors. May, environmental, physiological, social, or cognitive. Our body reacts to this stress is the physiological secretion of the hormone, corticosterone, which leads to the "Fight or Fright" response. Although this type of response is interpreted as an adaptive value, persistent and frequent stress leads to chronic effects in due course on the physiological and behavioral reactions of the human body.
Knowing the importance of stress in health management, many stress management techniques have been developed and proposed to combat stress. However, a comprehensive methodology is available for the overall management of stress that can be applied to any type of stress. Here comes the solution to this problem in nature.
a critical study of the migration behavior of some long migration of birds provides some basic principles involved in successfully managing stress.
the most stressful part of life in the migration of birds is their long migration journey. Some of the migration of birds like geese, sparrows, thrushes, warblers, etc., are known for their seasonal migration to travel hundreds of miles. They are performing migration from year to year and generation by generation. How they are able to manage stressful events successfully and without interruption done knowing full well that it will involve heavy stress? The answer is that nature has taught them how to manage this stressful event successfully over thousands of years of their evolution.
Here are the basic principles established in the management of stress migration of birds: 1 The principle of avoiding, 2 The principle of adaptation and 3 The principle of acceptance.
The principle of avoiding : the main reason why the birds perform seasonal migration is to avoid the stress of severe cold to the face during a particular season, although the migration itself is the cause of stress exercise. Apart from these birds to move away from places severe cold during this season, their chances of survival in the midst of severe temperature stress will be looped. That is why nature has taught them that the principle of avoidance would be the best option in such situations. Another stress migrant birds are likely to face the danger of predators along the migration path. To avoid the danger of predators on their route birds prefer to take a circular path, knowing very well that such a decision involves additional flight. There is also a principle of avoiding the follow, and the stress the birds. In both cases, the principle of avoidance is considered more valuable stress management techniques for the situation.
The principle of accepting : In this case, the principle of avoidance, the birds were able to distinguish between notes that are tolerable (handling), emphasizes that the intolerable (unmanageable) and come to accepting the compromise allowed the stress to avoid the unbearable stress. Here comes the principle of acceptance. According to which one has to accept a certain level of stress and is not advisable to wait for a stress situation.
The principle of adjustment: Once the bird has to accept some kinds of stress, they must be prepared to face and tolerate the effects of stresses that are accepted. Even if accepted may be less severe stress for the time being, it must be managed and eliminated because it probably turns into a chronic one in the foreseeable future, if allowed to perpetuate. Here, nature has taught them to develop adaptation.
Prediction of stress due to exhaustion of energy sources during continuous flight, migratory birds store enough fat in the body as an energy reserve prior to their migration. Furthermore, adrenocortex brain that responds to stress and initiate physiological changes in normal birds, is suppressed in the migrants' time, let the stress is felt by them. During the long migratory journey, migrants move over from their normal eating habits in a special eating habits selective eating berries rich in antioxidants. These fruits offer protection against oxidative stress that occurs during long flights. These are some of the adaptations of nature endowed with a technique for stress management of migrant birds.
Thus the principle of adaptation in stress management explains how it can be equipped for combat stress problems are brought about positive changes in behavior and physiology.
the above three principles are the lessons derived from the nature and basis for all techniques to manage stress. They should be taken into account while finding solutions for stress management problems.
